]]> It’s time to take being a couch potato into the 21st century with X10′s Powermid IR extender system.

An infrared (IR) extender is used for relocating your DVD player, Blu-ray player and/or cable box into another room. Most IR extender kits come with a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter is located by your TV and the receiver is located by your devices that you have placed in the next room of your choice.

The process starts with you pressing any button on your remote which sends out an IR signal to the IR transmitter under your TV. The transmitter now transforms the IR signal into a radio frequency (RF) signal and sends the command to the IR receiver which now decodes the RF signal back into IR so that it can send that command to the correct device. Sounds pretty complicated but it makes for an ultimate stealth mode for your equipment….neighbors WILL be jealous.

There are many different brands and models of IR extender systems.  Picking the right system is never an easy task and that is why we recommend using X10′s Powermid. This system works just like it should and it very user-friendly. As long as the IR transmitter is under your TV and the IR receiver in another room is facing your devices, everything is like clockwork.
